For over thirty-five years, a group that came to be known as Authors of the Flathead has been meeting for once a week to provide a supportive and encouraging writers and getting to know other people who are also interested in writing. Just a couple of years after the group started, they decided to host a writers conference, and this October, the 35th annual Flathead River Writer’s Conference will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kalispell. I was happy to have a chance to visit with two members of the Authors of the Flathead, ,Debbie Burke, who was a founding member, and Claudia Bennett, ,who is a relative newcomer to the Flathead Valley ,but was in charge of organizing this year’s conference.
