When Dallas Knight enlisted in the Army to help cover college tuition, she had no idea the world was about to explode. Because of 9/11, Dallas found herself deployed to Iraq just out of boot camp, as part of an Army Police unit. After a harrowing year of combat action, Dallas eventually returned to civilian life, working for the DEA until she got recruited by IBM to join the corporate world. But as time and life marched forward, she found herself more and more troubled by events from her time in Iraq, particularly one incident that cost the lives of two of her comrades. Dallas started therapy to address her PTSD, and thanks to the help of an excellent therapist, as well as a valued mentor, she has published Shattered Reflections, her journal from that year in Iraq, and also started a podcast, Not Your Average Jane, where she interviews fellow women combat veterans. And finally, she started her own non-profit, Operation Juliet, with the primary goal of starting a retreat for her fellow women combat veterans. The first retreat will be taking place later this month.
