The Grabbing
Many people have cited the TMZ recording as a turning point in the way people viewed Donald Trump. What seemed to be a sure death blow to his candidacy turned out to have very little effect on his popularity, and there’s been a lot of speculation about why that is.
Many people pointed out, rightly, that if Obama had been caught saying this, it would have not only ended his political career, but it might have cost him his life. And I don’t have to explain why. But one thing I’ve never heard anyone mention is the hypothetical case where a recording surfaces of Hilary or Kamala saying something like “Yeah, if you’re famous, you can just give that old boner a tug. You can do anything.”
How fucking absurd does that even sound, right? But it’s not absurd to raise the question of why someone like Trump gets away with shit like this, and has fed on that to push the boundaries as far as he can. A lot of what his base loves about him is that he says whatever the hell comes into his head. And of course it doesn’t hurt that many of the people who love him agree with his views. or at least admire his ability to speak them out loud.
But as his mental decline continues, and his filters become more and more corroded, it also seems very likely that the fact that he’s not afraid of consequences is eventually going to cost him. The Obama gorilla meme, his relentless attacks on women reporters, and the way he continually mentions the Epstein files even when people don’t ask him about them seems to indicate that whatever slight amount of restraint he has left is about to break. Which makes it more important than ever for people like Thomas Massie and Kaitlin Collins and AOC and Gavin Newsome continue to put the pressure on him. He’s become almost feral, so the more he’s backed into a corner, the more likely he is to strike out without thought of the repercussions.
It also seems pretty clear that the amount of bullshit people are willing to tolerate is finally reaching a breaking point for many. No matter how loyal some people are, the assault on children is a line that shouldn’t be acceptable to anyone. And more people are coming to that same conclusion every single day.
Unfortunately, about 1/3 of the country is in a MAGA cult. They are detached from reality and livein a fact-void universe, for a variety of reasons. Reasons ranging from emotional circumstances and mental illness to being brainwashed 24/7 by state regime media also known as Fox News. They simply have to be outvoted. Deprogramming them will be very difficult and take many years. For better or for worse, the MAGA demographic is older, and nature is taking its course with them. To outdo them, though, we need first and foremost, free and fair elections. If we can have free and fair elections, we should be able to end the current fascist kakistocracy and the tyranny of the minority.
The fact that millions, including millions of women, support this convicted felon and serial rapist indicates the degree of brainwash and cult of personality. I think many love the Monster because he says/does what they wish they could do: no filters, no scruples, no morality, no second thoughts, no "thinking" at all. The reign of id, of impulse, cushioned by lots of money and lots of abject sorryass worshippers.
