Kathleen Williams moved to Montana in 1995 and quickly became involved in community service through various environmental and political organizations. A friend eventually encouraged her to run for the state legislature, and she won her first election, serving three terms before stepping away briefly and then stepping back in to run for the US Congressional seat twice. She is not a candidate for the Montana state senate in district 31.
